Since 1989 when Canadian researchers discovered the gene responsible for CF, global research to find a cure for the disease has brought us closer and closer to a solution. While Canada is consistently at the forefront of CF research as a result of financial support through the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the search for a cure for CF is a world-wide enterprise. NOTICE: On this page we will be highlighting research news from various sources all over the world. But in doing so we wish to explicitly state that this is for general information purposes only, and while some of this news around proposed new treatment of CF seems promising at times, they are but a small part of thousands of research projects world-wide searching for a cure for CF. None of the proposed treatments you might be reading about here is either endorsed by the CCFF or by the medical community concerned with CF. As always, it is the CF clinician and other medical professionals entrusted with the care of CF patients who should be the deciding authority in determining what treatment is best for a person with CF. |
