We are deeply saddened by his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family and friends.

Mike was an amazing individual dedicated to raising awareness and funds for cystic fibrosis. He was a role model to those around him and his death leaves behind a tremendous void in the CF community and beyond.

Mike was instrumental in the ongoing success of the CF Invitational Golf Tournament since its inaugural year. Over the past 17 years, the event has raised over $2.5 million for CF research, making a difference for all CF families. The Tournament will be renamed the Mike Cassidy Memorial CF Golf Classic and the 18th Event will be held on May 5, 2011 at Newlands Golf Course.  In addition to his work on the Tournament, Mike promoted CF awareness at various speaking engagements and assisted with other CF fundraising events.

In recognition of his dedication and volunteerism, Mike received the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation BC Association’s Colleen Kohse Award in 2004 and the prestigious national Summerhayes Award in 2007.

The Foundation is grateful for everything that Mike and his family have done for the cause. Mike’s passing inspires all of us to work even harder to raise funds for CF research until such time a cure for CF is found so other lives are not cut short.

A celebration of Mike's life was held at Newlands Golf Club in Langley, BC on Tuesday, June 22^nd at 12pm.
