The 36th Annual Swim-a-Rama event took place on March 21 at the SFU Aquatic Pool. Collectively, we raised almost $9,000 this year!!!

This longstanding fundraiser is made possible with the support of many super swimmers and swim clubs from Burnaby Mountain Mantas, SFU Aquatics and SFU Aquatykes. In addition CF families,  SFU pre-med students, UBC Medicine swimmers, Masters' swimmers from SFU and UBC, and Arie Swim club swimmers participate and support Swim-a-rama. THANK YOU ALL!

Also, many thanks to Roxy Abernethy who has helped organize this event since it’s inception, co-chair Penny Pedersen and to Liam Donnelly for their dedication and enthusiasm to this event. Adding great ideas to the committee are:  Jen Lyle, Jennifer Kasuya and Cory Beatt.

Swimmers can swim one mile if they want the bragging rights. Lap counters are on hand to document the achievement. All swimmers regardless of age or ability are welcome to come out this event. A trophy is awarded to the swimmer soliciting the greatest number of pledges. In addition, there is a prize for the swimmer raising the most money. All swimmers are entered into a random draws for prizes.

There is no admission charge, parking is free (compliments of SFU), and the bbq has been donated. Come out with your completed pledge form (or sponsor yourself when you arrive at the pool) and support cystic fibrosis. Research to find a cure for this fatal illness is expensive but your support of Swim-a-rama will give hope to CF families.
